I cannot believe that anyone could be so selfish at to object to this application. We ask so much of our service personnel and give so little back. I am driving to Dorking to attend the meeting to try and show some support. My son and brother both serve in the army and I know how much this facility is needed. Thank you to all of you who have brought this disgaceful matter to the public attention. We shall keep spreading the word and keep up the fight.

Good Luck tonight, I will be there in spirit and watching the webcam. I was happy to see that my letter to the Council made it to the comments page, I only hope that they do the right thing. Last night i remembered when the SSAFA asked my mother if we could open our home to families during the Falklands War, We said yes as a family and if i were ever asked this same question my reply would be YES, without any hesitation.

"For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Chuck 'im out, the brute!"
But it's "Saviour of 'is country" when the guns begin to shoot."
Do the right thing, Ashtead.

I am saddened and angry at the selfishness and uncaring attitude shown by these people. I never thought that in my lifetime that the legacy bequeathed to me to live in this great country should be so undervalued by some of its citzens. I wish you every sucsess with your campaign.

Good luck today and i hope the residents of Grays lane objecting to this very worthwhile cause fell ashamed of themselves. Maybe they should visit Headley Court and see these brave service man and women for themselves, who have made huge sacrifices for their country!

As an ex-serving member of the Royal Air Force, who has in the past used the rehabilitation facilities on offer the members of the armed forces I find the local residents blinkered view (and in some cases, for want of a better word) stupid, and down right insulting arguement for not letting SSAFA beyond believe! Forgive me for not understanding these peoples reasoning but if they lived in Headley Court and their nearest and dearest was hurt in an accident and sent to a specalist rehabilitation unit which was 400 miles away, would they think it such a bad idea to convert a house into accommadation for them to stay in? Keep up the good work, and lets hope the local planners see reason and not bow to pressure of the minority.

A word on behalf of the objectors!!
It is clear that before the people in Ashtead signed up to their objections to the planned expansion, they had not given much thought to the points raised in this guestbook. I am sure they would never have thought that their democratic right to object would be the subject of such opposition. I have to ask to what extent they were aware of what the purpose of the extension was for. When planning a major extension. I consulted with all my neighbours and explained what, when and how it would operate. I cannot accept that the objectors would have knowingly objected if they had been aware of any of the issues raised in this guestbook and I suspect a communication opportunity was missed.
We all make mistakes (As an ex-serviceman myself, I made many!)........but at least now, armed with a lot, lot more information, they now have a chance to put things right by withdrawing their objections. Let us at least give them the benefit of the doubt and lets see what they are made of.

Well done to all those who are giving support; shame on those unbelievably selfish nimbys who are trying to stop the project. I hope none of them will ever find themselves in the terrible situation that these injured servicemen and their families are experiencing.

As a serving member of the RAF, who myself have been to Headley Court on 4 occasions I would like to thank the staff and the effort that they put in. Without this I would not still be serving. To have family around you is a vital part of rehabilitation. The objectors to this scheme should be ashamed as they should be supporting their troops who are risking their lives to support this country. They have a thankless task and no-one wants to know when they return to the country they are defending. Come on Gordon, do something to show you care.
