Welcome to the 36 Grays Lane guestbook.

Please feel free to express your feelings below, but try to keep it polite!

It seems that the guestbook software is throwing a few glitches. We've had a few reports of random "permanent bannings" and posts disappearing. Please accept our apologies if either of these happen to you and, if you want to enter a message but it won't allow you, feel free to email your message and the name / location you'd like put to the email on the home-page

We've found that the vast majority of Ashtead residents are overwhelmingly supportive of SSAFA, Headley Court, the Armed Forces and our campaign. The 90 or so objectors, and their attitudes, do not represent most Ashtead residents from everything we've seen. Please, in thanks to all those people, bear that in mind when posting!

Thank you to everyone who's helped achieve this wonderful result. We've known from the outset that the concerns raised were misplaced. SSAFA and the families concerned will now have the chance to prove that. We know they'll be more than equal to the task.

Oh, and thanks for all the fish

I accept that it just a small majority of the people of Ashtead who are not supportive of the proposed SSAFA project and feel saddened that the majority of the residents should feel that in some way they must distance themselves from what is being objected to by so few. Surely in this day and age a community should be able to come to a more democratic solution.
Headly Court for me is a place that works near miracles, a place that as near as is humanly possible will put you back together again, it gives you back your self esteem and the will to go on.
I digress most of us know what Headly Court is all about, the issue is why so few object so strongly to the SSAFA proposal? Time for a little soul searching, it takes real strength of character to stand up and say I got it wrong.
It is now well over thirty years since I had occasion to spend several weeks in Headly court my problems were minimal compared to most. As far as I remember there was little or no suitable accommodation available for loved ones, whatever SSAFA are doing is surely a step in the right direction and needs all the support we can give.
