My wife and I wrote to the council expressing our dismay at the objections before the final decision last year. I have been meaning to write expressing our delight at the outcome. We are bringing up our two children to know of the sacrifices still being made in our name. There was recently a similar unsavoury incident at Leatherhead swimming pool involving disabled soldiers - so sad - people never seem to be able to see beyond their own perimeters.

Well done to all involved. A facility like this is essential for the successful recovery of those injured in the defence of our rights and freedom. I lost a leg 4 years ago and I'm convinced that my physical and mental recovery would have been much harder without the regular visits of my friends and family. To the 90 Nimby's, hard luck. A house is a home for life not a giant piggy bank!

My brother has just returned from his 2nd tour in Afghanistan! Anything you can do to make the lives of injured service personnel more bearable should be done immediately! All these Nimbys need to think how they would feel if one of their family was horrifically injured in a war they did not ask to be involved in.

I am married to an ex Marine, my Father fought for 6 years in the Second World War and I have several friends who are still serving in the Armed Forces. I find the comments of the local residents appalling. But is this not typical of people who have more money than they know what to do with. They live in tiny little worlds which bear no resemblence to the real world most people battle with on a daliy basis. If another nation were threatening to take over this country they would be the first to jump up shouting 'send in the troops' so their life style and wealth would be protected. My message to them is 'get a real life, get off your arrogant rears and help'. They should be made to visit the facility and talk to these very brave men and women who give up so selflessly there right to a normal life to fight to keep us 'not so brave' individuals safe in our beds. Thank you to all of them and may their recovery be speedy and successful.
