For those who might be interested in making positive supporting comments, it may be useful to know than anyone in the UK can either object or support any planning application, anywhere in the country. That said, if you are web-savvy, go to the Mole Valley Council web-site, click on Planning, click on Search for a planning application. I then used the Map-based search to find the relevant application page, via the address. Once you have the correct page, look for the section titled Proposal. Now on the far right hand side, click on "Comment on this application". Now enter any details, that you are a Supporter in the Role box and that you do not Object, attach any comments as explained on the page and hopefully that might do the trick.

Like many others I have signed the petition and also forwarded it to friends, family and colleagues. I just wanted to wish the campaign all the very best of luck for tonight; you are doing a wonderful job and I pray we get the right result this evening. The whole country is behind you!

Having just looked at the statement on the ARA website, one would certainly have expected something from Mr Le Versha by now. With a committee in favour but those members of his organisation who had "expressed a preference", one can certainly see how the Association might have felt it appropriate to lodge a letter.
Given the clear evidence that those expressing a view are such a small minority in Ashtead and presumably, therefore, his membership, surely he and the Association hs duty in relation to that membership to withdraw the objction in support of their views.
Otherwise, one must wonder who, exactly, the association represents?

The caller given airtime on the BBC Radio 2 Jeremy Vine show annoyed me with a very misguided attack at servicemen, showing no empathy for their families or an understanding of the issue at hand. I will not recite exactly what he said however I hope my reply, quoted of another person who commented on this issue, indicated what he said. To him I would say, revile the war, not the warrior.
Good Luck to everyone in attendance tonight, I hope the right result is achieved quickly.

To Chris Smith,
Chris, that is the point we have repeatedly made, and which has been very evident when we've been in Ashtead.
The vast majority of people spoken to, do want the facility, and would be very proud to have it.
We have asked Mr Le Versha of the Ashtead Residents Association to contact us, with a view to withdrawing the 'minor' objection lodged, but we still have not heard from him.
We know that this guestbook is very likely to be read by him, and so once again, I ask him to contact us with a view to withdrawing the objection in advance of tonight's plannng meeting.
As he himself has said, the members of his committee did support the application. As that is the case, we can see no reason why they would not withdraw, now they are far better informed.
If readers are Ashtead residents and members of the association and support the application, we would ask that they contact Mr.Le Versha and ask him to withdraw the minor objection.

I have been to both Afghanistan and Iraq and what can I say on this subject? Britain, now a a me me me me society, protected and self centered. No hardships in the anti-forces brigade in Surry I suspect. This is a very emotive subject and the very least our service men/women deserve is the the best treatment and environment to recover and that goes for their families who have to bear the brunt of the hardships. Shame on the Asthead residents who petitioned against this facility.

I have never felt so compelled to add a comment to a website as I do to this. I have just moved back to Ashtead, having grown up here and lived away for several years, and I am shocked and embarrassed by what I have read on your website of the attitudes of and objections raised by the residents of Grays Lane. It leaves me speechless that people can be so intolerant and ignorant in this age. Admin reply: Jane: Please feel free to call your councilors, especially those on the Planning Committee today and make your feelings known and sign the Downing Street petition too if you haven't done so. Thank you.

I should perhaps say firstly that I have no connections whatever either with the military or the area - Inverness could not be much further away in the UK.
By chance, I was listening to Radio 2 at lunchtime today when I first heard of this problem. I was so appalled by the attitude of the residents of the area that I felt compelled to contact you - and I have never written such a letter or e-mail about anything to anybody before.
In addition to the patients, their family members will also be going through a very traumatic time. The very fact that they want to be near them is proof of not only this, but also that they would hardly be going there to hold wild parties. In fact, even if they had just received some extremely good news (e.g. he's going to get better), they will be the first to consider other residents in the house, unlike, it seems, other people in the area.
There is much I would like to say about these selfish, greedy and cowardly individuals but had better limit it to saying that I hope all other 'NIMBYS' about any other subject will realise just how low they have stooped.
The only possibly genuine argument I heard was that the house is on a private road, the upkeep of which the residents are responsible for. If the proposed use of the house were to seriously increase the cost of this upkeep, I am sure that some arangement could be come to.
I wish you every success in your application. Not least, every good wish for those in your care, which extends to not only medical care, but very real physiological care for both your patients and their families.
