I am living in Hong Kong having a year out from work, it just goes to show how far support can come from! I am a former Sea Cadet and my father is an ex Lt Cmdr RNR based in HMS President. Now although I have had very little experiance with the forces I am aware of what acually happens when people go to war. The effects I am sure can last a life time and I am very proud people as far away as myself and people in a community will get together to help others in this way. I think that is what makes the UK Unique. Keep going and never give up on your fight to get 36 Grays Lane going, after all, the people we are trying to support never gave up when they were asked to fight.

I wholley support this effort. It is a shame that the government is not doing to assist the families of those who have gone overseas to defend our freedom. There is no way anyone can fully repay them for their sacrifices; however, assisting with their families needs would be a start.

I served 10 years ( Not much by other standards ) I was trained for such events and thank god, I did not go into the hell that some of the lads have done recently. My ex unit have recently recieved casualties and a feel like ***t that my age and my health prevents me from getting back in with the 'lads'. To object to '36' was a folly that will bight them in the rear although I suspect some did so from pier pressure and not from the heart. God bless all those who have contributed to this sight in a positive manner and god forgive the 'instigator of the petion'

I was appalled when I first heard of the objections by the selfish people who live in Grays Lane, Ashstead at the intention of SSAFA to provide short stay accommodation to families of injured service personnel being rehabilitated at Headley Court. Being an ex-RAF Nurse and having served with a field hospital myself, I know just how bad these injuries can be, and those that suffer them need all the support that they can get, and so do their families at such a dreadful crossroads in all their lives. I fully support this site and the issues raised. I have signed the PM petition site and am in the process of writing a letter of representation to Molve Valley District Council, and I shall get around to writing to each individual who made such appalling objections to the conversion of 36 Grays Lane, Ashstead. Their selfishness is just unbelievable. Good luck with the site and you have my full support.

I am appalled at the reaction of local residents to the proposals. Frankly at a time when our Government is seriously breaching its covenant to the Armed Forces through penny-pinching bureaucracy we should be making every effort to support our servicemen and women. These people should be proud to be able to “do their bit” however small their contribution might be.

Doesn't it seem rather ironic (in so many ways) that, according to the article in the Daily Mail, the chief protagonist for the objectors is an oil company executive?

Before the Council takes its decision the members concerned should visit Headley Court and meet the guys in rehab - and if possible some of their families. So shpould the objectors - and see whether they can look anyone in the eye.
Good luck, SSAFA. It's a brilliant scheme.

I cannot express the overwhelming feeling of satisfaction I have experienced these past few days whilst following this issue:
As a serving physiotherapist, the campaign in support of SSAFA and ultimately the injured and their families is incredible. It fills me with an overwhelming sense pride and reinforces the strong military family ethos, that when challenged, will react in an entirely appropriate way - thank you all so very much for your efforts, and support. Well done to all those ARRSERS - ticket to UK is booked; see you on 010807.

In the end there will be only one outcome. 12000 on the petition, versus 80 objectors!!. Better to quit your selfish fight now and offer your hand in friendship. Those that care for our wounded are our friends for life, it's not to late to do the right thing.
