As a Royal Navy veteran of 23 years and a Falklands Veteran I wonder how many of these selfish people have any connection with the forces of the crown I think none would be the answer else this site would not exist. Signed the petition and sent a letter of support
Onwards and upwards and keep the faith

Brilliant site. A shame it was needed in the first place.
It makes me extremely mad/sad to see the lack of compassion some residents of Ashtead of shown. All members of the forces should be fully supported by us, especially if they are unfortunate enough to have to pass through Headley Court.
I sincerely hope that planning permission is granted to SSAFA.

Hopefully these NIMBIES will see sense soon. A big well done to all involved. Good luck with the campaign and a heartfelt thankyou.

It seems that so many will pay lip service to those who serve in the Armed Forces, but when it comes down to showing some moral support, they turn into NIMBY's.
To those in Ashtead that do not support the acquisition of this house by the families association, I say you should hang your heads in shame.
These peple risked their lives to ensure you continue to live in comfort. They lost their limbs for the same reason.
can you, in all conscience, object to the purchase of this house for use by their visitng families?

This facility is needed NOW for the families of servicemen and women who have made huge sacrifices on all our behalves. Those opposing it should take a long hard look at themselves.

Time for some inspiration from Churchill, methinks:
"When you're going through hell, keep on going."
"Never give in--never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy."
I am so proud to be associated with this and am happy beyond words that so many people have got behind our campaign.
A huge thanks to all of those Ashtead residents who are saying "Not in my name!" and who have the moral decency to want to give a home-from-home to families who are suffering beyond most of our comprehension.
I love you guys!
PS Well done yourself Mrs. N - we're thinking of you!

This campaign is so important, the result of the planning decision goes much further and deeper than the village of Ashtead - it will be a statement of how this nation intends to treat it's Armed Forces.
I urge Mole Valley District Council Planning Committee to make the RIGHT decision and allow the SSAFA application to go ahead unhindered.

Best wishes for the campaign to provide accomodation for the families of the brave who depend on the facilities at Headley Court. How anyone can object beats me !
Down with the NIMBYs!!

I fully support SSAFA in their wish to use 36 Grays Lane for this much needed facility.
I have been following this on ARRSE since it began and cannot believe the amount that has been achieved in so short a time (can it REALLY be only 10 days since the newspaper article that sparked this off?), well done to all those concerned.

I can only offer my kindest thoughts and heartfelt sympathies. I will post a link to this site on every forum I am a member of. The patients attending Headley Court should be given the best care that money can buy. It makes me physically ill that this country can do so little after they have given so much.
These selfish people protesting this facility should be ashamed.
