Headley Court is a beautiful building and not as far as I know overlooked. You should embrace Headley court and be proud that it has chosen to be in your community and that it provides jobs for the area. Who has helped the NHS out when the Ambulance crews have gone on strike in the past the services. The NHS is overwhelmed the services need Headley Court, going private is not an affordable option for them, only for the idle rich.

Those who object should be volunteering to be of assistance and not mealy mouthing those who have committed the ultimate sacrifices to serve and protect them. Don't you just hate the way some people elevate themselves?

We live about the same distance from Headley Court as Ashtead is on the western side. I could hardly believe the articles in the local press about the attitude of the residents of Grays Lane. We fully support all efforts to ensure that planning is granted.

As a supporter of our armed forces and the campaign for the house to be used as proposed I was interested to see from Rob Hoole's guest comment of 25 July that there may have been something in the Press about one of the leaders of those objecting to the house being an oil company executive. If this is so why not advertise that fact and boycott their products!

I too wish you complete success in obtaining this much needed property/facility. We in the Armed Forces, not just the personnel but also families and friends, suffer through no fault of our own, by doing their duty to make Britain a safer place to live. If this group of small minded people cannot put their pettiness behind them and think of others instead just shows how little thought they give to the service personnel and their families in their hour of need.

As a serving member of the RN I can only say that I am disgusted at the level to which the British public has sunk if the reaction of those objecting to this facility is indicative of the general population.
Please tell me it isn't. Please tell me that the British public is still worthy of the sacrifices being made daily by our young men and women in order to safeguard the freedoms that it takes for granted.
Hats off to those who are supporting this. My utter contempt to those who are objecting for their own petty, selfish reasons.

Not all residents in Ashtead object to offering support to the brave folk in our Armed Forces and their families. I have written to Chris Grayling our MP and sent a letter of support to the local planning office in Dorking. Good luck SSAFA with your valuable work.

I have lodged an online formal letter of support for the application with Mole Valley DC. I am and have never been part of the Armed Forces. I am a former Glasgow City Councillor that had the honour of playing a part in annual Remembrance Day events in my city. As a 42 year old man, it was very humbling to see both old and young Forces Personnel, many disabled working for our great nation. If these personnel had been injured doing any other "ordinary" job, would the clamour for objections be the same? I don't think so. Good Luck

Some of the objections brought a tear to my eye but not because of my concern for the local residents but because there are people out there who do not take time to realise what the services are doing in places like Iraq and Afghanistan. But also what the familes go through when a loved one is injured both mentally and physically. My thoughts are with everyone effected. My only wish is that the local residents think again.

I offer my wholehearted support in the endeavour to purchase the house. I wish I could say I was shocked to hear of the neighbour objections. We SHOULD ALL be shocked to hear of such disgraceful whingeing. It is a very sad state of affairs when we are not shocked but such is sorry state of mind and being some people (who should know better) reveal themselves to be. They bring shame to the concept of Britishness.
