How careless of these heroes! to only be wounded defending their country. If they where killed then there would be no need to go through this inconvenience. Even us rough, uncouth, ockers in Australia recognise that people that sacrifice themeselves for the good of others deserve RESPECT and should not be traet as doormats, to be used and then discarded.
Shame on you

Hi I welcome the idea of temporary living accomodation for the families of injured servicmen ( and i think they deserve all they can get and its money worthwhile spent ), but there needs to be some thought on the location for this , I myself live in Ashtead no where near Grays Lane , if the house was down my road there would be no objections from me but the residents of Grays Lane do have a point about the change of use of a house in their road , sorry if this is against the grain of most peoples feeling , personally i feel its unjust to comment if the individuals have not visited Grays Lane themselves , in hindsight before purchasing the property would it not of been reasonable to make sure that the purchase was fit and legal for its proposed use ? Admin reply: Grays Lane has been visited, measured, mapped, photographed and reported upon in depth by several members of the campaign to have this application approved. Those reports have then been made available for all to see and make it quite clear that the objections raised by those represented by APEM are not of substance. I'm sorry, but like the objectors, your post here holds little water.

Words fail me. Truly! I have tried several times to write an appropriate message but cannot find the words to describe my feelings. Disgust at those who are complaining against the planning permission yes, these families are going through so much and need our support.

Quite frankly there are no words strong enough to describe how incredibly ashamed I am of these people and their self serving attitude.

I've got no links with the armed services in any way, so fortunately have never had the need to experience the help & support offered here. But you don't have to have those links to appreciate how valuable a facility like Grays Lane would be for the families of those injured while serving our country. Best of luck with your campaign.

I have friends who have used the services provided by Headley Court and know the excellent work that is done there. I have emailed everyone in my contacts making them aware of the petition and asking them to sign it, I can't believe that there are some people who are so small minded to raise such bizarre objections, when lets face it they would probably be amonsgt the first demanding the support of the services if they were in danger. Having had the services working so hard in the local community this week during the flooding (along with local companies). It is hard to imagine why people are prepared to question providing support to them and their families in their time of need, when they are there for some many others when they are needed.

If some of the residents who have objected to this scheme live where I live and see, on a weekly basis, coffins brought back from Iraq and Afghanistan, they would appreciate the sacrifices our service men and women are making for this country. Do they realise the devastating effect on morale their petty objections have on those serving? These people are beneath contempt - they are a disgrace to this country.

I would like to thank all the members of the Ashtead community who took the time to take and read one of the leaflets yesterday. Without exception they expressed disgust and dismay at the actions of the residents of Grays Lane. Ladies and gentleman I can assure you it is fully understood these people do not speak on your behalf.
Once again many thanks for your support, hopefully commonsense will prevail next Wednesday evening and the correct decision will be made.
Regards

It is hard to believe that people can be so narrow minded, and short sighted, the objections seem so petty and contrived, it is just another example of how indifferent people can be to the courage, and self sacrifice, of our armed services.I sincerely hope that these objections can be overcome.

The residents as a whole are an absolute disgrace. The further one looks into this the more we must conclude they are indeed hateful nasty selfish NIMBYs. Shame be upon them.
