Just to let you know that I'm pleased to have been able to sign both the No10 petition in your support, and to have written a short note to the planning officer of Mole Valley, It's refreshing to see the Net used for something so constructive for once and not solely as a means to spread vile rumor and disinformation. Well done to you all at No38 and the very best of luck in your application.

Did real people give those reasons to prevent the building of this facililty or is someone pulling our leg? Terrorist attacks? Burglars pretending to be visitors? I think they've been watching too much Eastenders and CSI. Next time they'll be saying that some of the wheelchair users will be ramraiding their local shops - BRING IT ON!!
Please, somebody see some sense and ignore these ridiculous and ludicrous idiots. Oh I apologise how about building another facility because these objectors clearly need help.

We fully support the building of this facility to accommodate the visiting families of injured servicemen. We are proud of these young men and women and they deserve respect and thanks from the Ashtead community. Admin reply: Paul, thank you for the support and please make sure that everyone in Ashtead knows that when people refer to "the residents of Ashtead" they are referring to those in Ashtead Park Estate that have complained. No-one intends to damn the entire village of Ashtead - merely those who, by their selfish attitude, have chosen to publicly damn themselves with their letters of objection to MVDC.

Keep up the fight. It is strange how government and ministers sing the praises of their service men and women when it is to their advantage yet when the chips are really down and these guys and gals come home injured mentally and physically the government disowns them. A shameful indictment of past and present goverments. It is always left to the stalwarts, families, friends and support organisations to pick up the pieces. i wish you all the very best in trying to get this project off the ground.
Regards

As a one time nurse at DMSRU Headley Court on North Wing 91-93 & as a long time patient 99-00.
I am totally bemused by local objections to such a premises being converted from a one time nursery to a more suitable retreat for family members of patients at Headley & you have my total support. Letter sent to planning & MP.

The residents should be evicted from their homes and our heros should be given the keys of the doors from these NIMBYS!

Please do not tar all residents of Ashtead with the NIMBY brush.
The teams handing out leaflets in the town over the last few days, plus comments posted here and on other sites, show us that the vast majority of the good folk of Ashtead have nothing but praise for the work of Headley Court and welcome the SSAFA proposal.
Sadly, there are some who hold other views for whatever reason, and it's to help them see that the proposal is not for a "hostel" that this campaign strives.
They should have nothing to fear from quiet Forces Families who just want to concentrate on supporting their loved ones whilst they use the excellent rehabilitation facility at Headley Court.
