It makes me so angry that these brave soldiers have fought for the freedom of these Countries and some 'nimbys' dont respect their bravery and courage Are house prices worth wot these brave soldiers and their families have to suffer??? Increases in children playing increased rubbish these are some of the objections you should be ashamed of yourself
GET IN THE REAL WORLD YOU MAKE ME SICK

Has it really come to this? Have we sunk this low as a country and community? Here in Gloucestershire we have seen an over-stretched military take the lead role in saving electricity supplies and delivering water effectively to thousands. That's just an extra part of the job, not protection against terrorism or involvement in a firefight in Afghanistan. How can we say thank you to these men and women and show true appreciation when some are such heartless, materialist losers? I do hope this appeal is a huge success.

To the compassionate people of Ashtead, thank you. To the objectors I can only say that I am glad I live in Leicestershire miles away from your snobbery and bigotry. Ex serviceman.

To the good residents of the area who have shown support for this application THANK YOU. It is a shame that a few individuals can be so petty minded. All we want is somewhere for families to stay close by there injured loved ones. I sincerely hope that non of you in the future find yourselfs in the position where loved ones are in hospital and you either cannot travel to see them regularly do to distance and costs.
Our servicemen and women are not conscripts, they are all volunteers. They arent on great wages, have marvelous perks, great accomadation and are often ignored and treated poorly. Then comes a threat, of they go not knowing what they will encounter, when will they come home if at all. Why do they do this its to protect us all, defend our rights one being freedom of speech. A shame that people choose to use this to insult those injured fighting for it.
JUST SHOW SOME HUMANITY, PLEASE

Matt of Ashtead,
I'm one of the pricks you mentioned, also of Ashtead. As the moderator says, it is unlikely you're a real objector since the residents of Grays Lane might be priveleged but they are also quite eloquent, unlike you. I am an ex-serviceman, formerly of the Second Royal Tank Regiment, and am proud to regard other ex-service people as brothers and people that can be relied upon. I doubt you enjoy that privelege and doubt you ever will.
I'd quite like to discuss this matter in person. Maybe we could meet over a pint in the Leg?

I cannot believe the pure snobbery of these people. They should go out to Iraq or Afghanastan and see what service personel have to expierience to defeat world wide terrorism. These are the same people who would be shouting for the Army if an incident happened close to them. I sincererly hope SAAFA (a briliant orginization)and the goverment succeed in their project and stuff the snobs. Our soldiers deserve every care and attention to help them on the road to recovery.

Next year, I shall retire and, God willing, will move to Spain. One of the main reasons for my decision to leave this country is encapsulated by the "me only" attitude so clearly shown by the inhabitants of Grays Lane. I have become more and more disenchanted with the lack of real moral values, breakdown of communities and the single-minded pursuit of greater material wealth that is so prevalent in this country now. Whilst I condemn their actions fully, in trying to protect "their investments", at the expense of others, I regret that the same might have happened, had the planning application been lodged in one of many other areas, in and around the Home Counties. In my view, facilities for treating and caring for our dedicated servicemen and women, should be the total responsibility of their employer, the Government. The biggest disgrace is that private sponsorship, charity appeals and fund raising events are necessary to provide brave and loyal employees with the appropriate level of medical care and support when they are seriously injured. Until those who govern give a lead and clearly show what our priorities should be, I fear it is unlikely that the reactions of those in Grays Lane would not be repeated throughout the wealthier boroughs. Perhaps it's time for our new P.M. to really make a name for himself and show which "true scottish values" he stands for.

You have my full support! I can't believe anyone reasonable would object to a center to help families of injured service people spend some time together. I am shocked to find out residents were seriously objecting!
Without our armed forces in times of flooding, storms, fire strikes or terrorist attack our country would be lost and therefore the "successful" people who want to enjoy their peaceful area wouldn't be so successful or rich. Most of armed forces make huge sacrifices to protect the rest of us and may lose their lives or future happiness in the process.
In my opinion we should be doing a lot more to help everyone who serves for our country.
