Good luck with the campaign. If this one is lost I think it will be a disaster. Fingers crossed.

Blue team, you really are a Band of Brothers! Sue, Pete, and all the rest know how useful this facility will be! Whatever happens on Wednesday, The good guys have won!
I promise I will find an internet cafe somewhere to watch the fun!

I hope to god I don't ever have to make use of such a facility but for all the hundreds of families who find themselves with severely wounded relatives, you have all my sympathies. Our soldiers, sailors and airmen fighting on our behalf (after all, Mr T Blair went into Iraq and Afhanistan in all or names) deserve total respect, the very best medical care and the love of their families. Families being nearby must be part of the healing process and to even consider objecting to this wonderful facility is a national disgrace.
SSAFA shouldn't have to purchase a house to provide such a facility, especially through fund-raising, the Government should find it within their own moral conscience to provide not only state of the art medical facilities but also a homely, welcoming and safe place for families to remain nearby. Once one of our armed forces is injured, they and their families become the forgotten ones - left to deal with horrific injuries, mental scars and having to rebuild close family relationships on top. The bigots of Grays Lane must be put back firmly in their box.
Best of luck tomorrow - if the council have any sense and any moral obligation this objection will be thrown out as far as possible.

I can only assume this has been a misunderstanding on the part of the residents. Surely such fine, high-minded people would be honoured to have rehabilitating servicemen and women, along with their families, in their delightful environs.
Any other response to their simple request for respite and rehabilitation after serving Queen and country would be simply ghastly!
After all, this is not a job like any other where you can question or ignore orders. They did what they had to and have paid an almighty price!
Some loving respect is just what is needed to turn unwanted new neighbours in life-long friends.

I sincerely hope you will prevail against these petty minded selfish few. The very best of luck tomorrow.
One wonders with the recent flooding in the UK and the way the Armed Forces were rushed in to provide aid; if the the same were to happen on their patch if they'd be happy to see us then? One supposes so, so long as we remembered our place and slipped quietly away again.
'While it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' "Tommy, fall be'ind," But it's "Please to walk in front, sir," when there's trouble in the wind, There's trouble in the wind, my boys, there's trouble in the wind, O it's "Please to walk in front, sir," when there's trouble in the wind.'
Shame on you Ashstead protesters - SHAME.

The main objection of these people seems to be that their right to quiet enjoyment of their houses will be spoilt by some noisy ruffians, behaving badly because they are there temporarily and have no links with or loyalty to the local area.
I'd say to them these things - 1) make links with these people - take them a cake, some toys for their children, show them you care for their loved ones, even though you might not agree with the war our Government sent them to. You'd be surprised how making them welcome would make them feel loyal to your street. 2) Would you expect the relatives of our Royal servicemen to behave badly? Why expect that other relatives would behave any differently. 3) Do you think that someone whose husband, wife, child or parent is learning to walk, to use prosthetic arms or legs, is going to feel like partying all night long? 4) Do you think that a minibus leaving and returning twice a day will be more intrusive than the 4, 5 0r 6 cars which could be used at the house with a large family?
Perhaps you'd prefer a rock star as a neighbour? A lottery winner? Kirsten Dunst?
It's very obvious to me that money might bring material assets, but it doesn't bring consideration, kindness or tolerance.

They should build your facility and evict the petty nimbys trying to prevent you! Good luck.
