I think the locals should be honoured that their area was chosen and be more appreciative to the needs of those brave and dedicated servicemen

I served for 12 years in the RAF Regiment, in our days we had the old style B.M.H's all over th world, we treated our servicemen as they should be. Now we have a small minority of people who think that their "little patch" should not be tainted by injure servicemen. It goes beyond that, I belong to the RAFA & do voluntary work as a Welfare Officer, similar work as the RBL & SSAFA. I would just like to take out one of the resident's of Grays Lane on a welfare visit & let them see just what happens to the families of the injured men.
We have recently had some lads killed in Basrah of the RAF Regiment, one who lives in the North Wales area & I will proud to attend his funeral but also hopefully be able to give some advice tot he family re what RAFA, RBL & SSAFA can do to help them in their time of need, not like the lot down on Grays Lane.
Keep up the good work
Yours Aye, Tom Feeley

I would like to thank all the members of the Ashtead community who took the time to take and read one of the leaflets we handed out. Without exception they expressed disgust and dismay at the actions of the residents of Grays Lane. Ladies and gentleman I can assure you it is fully understood these people do not speak on your behalf.
Once again many thanks for your support, hopefully commonsense will prevail next Wednesday evening and the correct decision will be made.
Thought I would repeat this I posted on Friday to ensure the residents of Ashtead that you are noble people and nobody associates you with those who live in Grays Lane.
Regards

I am poud to have served and now it is time to do so again in the name of our wounded comrades, not against Dictators or terrorists, but against a small selfish bunch of people in Ashstead.

DMRE staff work near-miracles with their patients, whose families show enormous courage in the face of terrible adversity. Having lived nearby for the last twenty years or so and driving past Headley Court at least four times a day, I thank Almighty God each time that neither of my sons are lying in there, having been attacked in Afghanistan or blown up in Basra. Our problems are utterly inconsequential by comparison. The disgraceful NIMBYs of Ashtead who object to the 36 Grays Lane project show a pettiness and lack of moral backbone that insults the very concept of being British. The families of our gallant and dedicated service personnel need and deserve our unreserved and wholehearted support: hopefully, my own forthright letter to Mole Valley District Council on the subject may be grist to the mill...

How can people be so mean! One would think that they would feel honoured to be able to extend the hand of friendship to these families who are having to cope with so much on OUR behalf. Good luck!

As parents of a soldier currently in Afghanistan we hope we'll never need it.
However, the attitude of the nearby residents is probably knee j*** led by one or two people. We're sure if they think it over their objections are groundless. In any case someone in higher authority than the local planning comittee should simply override the objections and get the project off the ground.

After 26 years in the Army I cannot believe the attitude of the residents in Grays Lane. Have any of them ever served in the Forces Probably not yet if they ever needed some protection from the forces they would be the first to SHOUT.
Come on Grays lane have a bloody Heart you are disgusting
