I am a serving serviceman. My thanks and sincere gratitude to all those that have campained and supported this issue onbehalf of my comrades across the services.
Shame on those arrogant, small minded, ungrateful residents who oppose this project. Servicemen and women risk life and limb daily to uphold the liberties of the democracy and freedom you enjoy. My mind boggles at the selfish nature of this small minority of individuals - hang your heads!!

Many congratulations and well done to all, including those very honourable and brave 17 councillors who voted to accept plan - they too should be congratulated on their efforts to do the "right thing"

Thank God for common sense! I watched the planning meeting on the web cast last night and not one of the objectors stood up to be counted. Just goes to prove that they couldn't back up their arguement. Hurrah for all those who supported this!

Great News and most welcome by SSFA and service families. Thanks to the majority of Ashtead residents that fully supported the application perhaps the few that didn't feel differently on reflection? I just hope that not too many get to use the facility.

Its great to see that you have won.
This issue only just got onto my radar yesterday (it got into the French news) and I was appalled that people could object to the home on "Terrorism" grounds.
Name and shame?
Or perhaps we could revoke their British nationality.

Just saw the news on BBC - brilliant result. Sue, the efforts of you and your colleagues have been tremendous; a testiment to the Armed Forces, their families and the forces community community. The job has only just started. We have to rememenber that the home that will be used by families in an area where many seem to be aggrieved by the plan; regardless of the rights and wrongs of all this, we all need to get on and repair relations for the good of all.
Well done!

As a serving member of the forces, and with my son currently serving in Afghanistan, I was delighted that this prosal met with the success it so rightly deserved and would have been amazed should it have gone the other way. I am ashamed of the 83 or so residents who put up such shallow and factless arguments against this much needed facility. I am glad it made for a high profile case in the media, and I hope they are holding their heads down, shame on them.

Delighted to hear that the plans can go ahead for the family unit, and so glad to hear that common sense prevailed over the wishes of some very selfish individuals. Having been involved in the setting up of a hospice in a residential area I know how important 'good neighbours' can be. Here's hoping the protesting group now have the good grace to be able to see the big picture, and let them hope that their family or friends never need to use what is going to be a fantastic facility for people who are suffering from the most awful traumas imaginable. Good luck to everyone involved. Carol Lorraine [ex RAF]

I was not actually aware of the campaign until I read the news this morning. I am totally disgusted with the attitude of the objectors to this project. It is obvious that there are no reasoned, constructive or valid arguments put up by any of the objectors. I would have had a shred of respect if they had cited the real reason, that they wished to avoid any possible risk to their house price, and not the pathetic drivel they actually stated. I have served in the forces for 32 years, and when you see this sort of thing, quite frankly, it makes you think, what is the point. Name and shame these worthless individuals and see how they defend themselves against criticism.
