Delighted to see planning permission granted. Those making the objections need seriously to examine their consciences as British citizens and human beings. Of course, it should not be up to the commitment of SSAFA to have to provide this facility for service families - the MoD/government should do it. Headley Court is a wonderful facility that has been a lifeline to so many service and non service people alike - thank goodness the government did not close it when making the misguided decisions it did with service hospitals.

Many congratulations to you all.
To those who opposed the proposal, I hope that you will come to see that none of your fears will come true and you will begin to offer your support to those who will use the facility. I hope that you will never have to go through what they do.
NEVER underestimate the determination of a service person's support for those comrades who fall, or who are injured, in the line of duty.
Bravo again!

I am overjoyed that sense has finally prevailed. As an ex service woman and mother of an active serviceman ,serving this country to protect it, can i remind these people that my son is working alongside thousands of other men and women to keep them safe. If the worst happens and god forbid it does these brave men and women deserve to have their families close by while they recover.

Well done!!Common sense has prevailed. As a retired RAF Officer and more importantly, an ex patient of Headley Court I could not believe the sheer crassness of these self centred people. Our servicemen & their families need every ounce of support, we as a nation, can offer. A well fought & fully justifiable campaign.

Delighted to see that planning permission was agreed . I wish the project every success and and a swift conclusion. (but one does wonder if some of the objecting residents are really on the same planet as the rest of us!)

Many congratulations on the success of your campaign and I hope the new facility will make life easier for the people recuperating at Headley Court, and their relatives. In fact I'm confident it will.

Sorry I managed to make my last entry private - technology still occasionally defeats me! Fantastic news about the Families Centre - commonsense and kindness have prevailed; 17-0 is a pretty conclusive endorsement. Well done on an amazing campaign - mind you I wouldn't have expected anything else from our Forces! Thanks to Dolly and Pongo for their response to my original message. I heard from my local councillor, Chris Hunt prior to yesterday's meeting. Although, as chairman of the Development Control Committee, he couldn't declare his views in advance, I felt , reading between the lines, that he was supportive and the vote showed that. I also received a reply from Paul Le Versha, chairman of the Ashtead Residents' Association, from which I resigned in protest over its support for the objectors. Whilst I can accept that they felt they were acting in the interests of their members and that in retrospect they feel they may have got it wrong, I still believe that when you examine the objections, they either do not stand up to scrutiny or they are downright appalling. Anyway my whole family is pleased with the outcome and we wish you all well in the future. Please don't judge Ashtead on this - it is a good place and not everyone here is greedy and self-absorbed!

Fantastic result and a really positive step for Our Boys and their families. Well done to all those involved in the project and 2 fingers to residents who had the audacity to complain.

Great result. Congradulations to all involved in achieving this. This must be a great moral booster to our troops and their families that they are not forgotten and people do care about their welfare back home.
